I wonder how many members of the Sproull family can claim ancestry to Matthew Sproull born 1737 in "Greenfields of Caldwell"? I believe Caldwell at this time to have been the ruins of an old castle near the village of Uplawmoor, East Renfrewshire. His son Matthew immigrated with wife Marion King and family to Nova Scotia aboard the "Mercator", landing in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1823.
