    John Sprole Iowa

    in New Member Introductions

According to family history, Hugh Sproule moved to what is now far northern West Virginia as early as 1777, perhaps later, perhaps joining neighboring Sprouls or Sproules in western Pennsylvania. He may have been uncle or cousin to my direct ancestor to my direct ancestor, William Sproule, who came over with sons Robert, Hugh and William and John (a half-brother) around 124. There are records of these people in WV (at that time VA) and OH. No one I can find has any connection to them in Ireland (supposedly their home) or Scotland. Help? They were farmers, craftsmen or coal miners early. There is a strong connection to Watt in the area, but I have no information on their origins either.
