"The National Archives of Ireland holds a collection of the wills of Irish soldiers who died while serving in the British Army. Most of these date from World War I but there is a small number from the late 19th Century and from the period of the South African War, 1899-1902. The documents have been digitised by the National Archives and are now available free online."
As you know - the family Spreull/Sproul/Sprowl etc is generally recognized as one of the Septs of Clan MacFarlane and indeed we have shared history through the Earls of Lennox and lands in the vicinity of Loch Lomond.
